Kharkov is known for its photo school. A group of photographers originating from there became representatives for the new Soviet photo art in the end of the eighties.

Works in mixed techniques from hand colored black and white photos to conceptual investigations.
Misha has been working as a head teacher at the photo school Kulturama in Stockholm for the past 15 years. He is also founder and coordinator of the Ukrainian Photography Alternative (UPHA).
And has been the curator of numerous international photographic projects.

Mishas presentation is about two of his projects: M is for Metro and The Return of Eternal Presence.

Misha Pedan’s book ”M” is poetic chronicle of the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.
All these pictures I made in the Kharkov metro in 1985–86. Every day I travelled
45 minutes to the city and 45 minutes back. In two years I spent 1000 hours in
the subway. These are the poeple I met.
